Hi lovely people!! Iโm am writing to you on the train from Nairobi to Mombasa. But letโs back up.
I left on August 28, 2026 for training camp in Gainesville, GA. We spent about 10 days there listening to sessions, spending time in worship, and meeting with my team that Iโm going to spend the next year with. ๐คฏ
Here is our 30 person team!! (25 & 5 leaders!)
We went from Atlanta to Nairobi, Kenya. Here we spent 2 days all together as a team learning about the culture, about Islam (because itโs commonly practiced here), and learning basic Swahili. From here our big team of 30 departed into 5 smaller teams and were sent out to different locations in Kenya.
Here is my team: Abigail, Chris, Lydia, Me, Carli, & Ayo
We spent a few additional days in Nairobi, doing ministry. We went with our ministry host, Haley, and did some house visits for women that she knows here. She previously ran a few different ministries here, so she got to reconnect with them and we got to pour life into them and pray with them. We also visited 2 schools, where we got to greet MANY children. The average school room in Kenya has about 90-100 kids packed in & they all pay to be there. Haleyโs organization matches sponsors with local Kenyan kids to help pay for school for the kids that canโt afford it.
We also spent an afternoon doing ATL, a world race term, meaning ask the Lord. We spent this time evangelizing at a marketplace. We spent a long time talking to a Kenyan named James. James wasnโt ready to accept Jesus yet, but it was obvious that the Lord is chasing after him. He joined us for our duration of time at the market and helped us connect better to the locals. James is a blessing, so please pray for salvation for him!
Now we are headed to Mombasa, a town on the coast ๐. We arenโt super sure what life and ministry will look like here, but we are excited to see what God has for us.
Testimony Time:
Our team had to get to the airport early because our other rides fell through. There was a team of people that wanted to go evangelize on the Atlanta metra line that goes from the airport into the city. Evangelism is what scares me the most about ministry, so I decided to try to get some experience with it before leaving the country and there are more barriers to conversion. The first train ride I cried because I was stressed out. The second train ride, the Lord strengthened me. I sat next to a man named Belmon. We just talked. It wasnโt as scary as I thought. We talked about Jesus, and he is a believer. He told me he could see Jesus in me. I got to pray for him, but I think he was a bigger encouragement to me than I was to him. It was a sweet reminder from the Lord, that He has me.
